Chrysler - Side Rail Mini Console

Chrysler - Side Rail Mini Console Donnelly Corporation was contracted to work with Chrysler on a brand new side rail console. They were asked to do something that had never been done before which was to combine AC air vent, grab handle, coat hook and map reading light into one package. This was not an easy task considering that they also had to create variants to the design with less content and still make it look appropriate for the vehicle’s environment. Such integration included working with the HVAC division for proper air flow, meeting the high output lighting specifications for the map reading lamps, and integrating a dampened grab handle into a flush package at a competitive price. The final design, on the right, met this criteria and received a design patent for its uniqueness and style. The design can be found in the mid 90’s Chrysler Caravan.
